Nature, sports and leisure

Nature walk Depending on the season, there are a multitude of things to do and see. Not far from Vieuresque, there are many short walks and long treks to discover. Maps and guides are provided in the gîte.

Spring and Autumn are ideal for nature walks. The countryside is very contrasted, ranging from open country, forests, rock valleys and arid "causse", peppered with sheep and stones.

The ancient Grésigne Forest is close by. Nature lovers can explore this oak forest and its fascinating undergrowth, home for wildlife such as wild boar and deer. Birds and butterflies can be observed. Here, the prehistoric civilisations and the Romans have left their mark. In the autumn, mushroom hunters have their fill!

Canoeing on the Aveyron river Not far, are the impressive rock faces of the Aveyron Gorges, where rock climbing can be enjoyed. For others, a slightly less strenuous activity is paddling down the river in canoes. More restful are picnics by the river, on secluded little beaches, far from the crowded areas.

In summer, there are many activities such as festivals, village "fêtes", concerts... Shops, village markets, wineries, restaurants and cafés are all within a few kilometres.

Grapes November is the month for the "vin nouveau" to come on the market. It is a time of festivities and wine tasting hosted by the local producers.

One can be very active in this part of the world... but one can also enjoy peace and quiet with a book or merely lie back and relax and take in an afternoon of sweet idleness.
